2019 Intentions

I have thought long and hard about what I want to personally accomplish in 2019, and instead of going the “resolution” route, I am going the intention route. I want 2019 to be a year where I am thinking about big picture vs the now through these 5 categories.

Continuing Healthy Habits: Over the years I have been able to get consistent with drinking more water, getting on a consistent workout schedule and even eating a healthy breakfast every morning. This year I want to tackle taking my vitamins every day and flossing 1-2 times a week (figured it would be easier to start small).

Mental Health: Aside from  continuing to grow my healthy habits, I am really trying hard to make sure my mind stays healthy. From reading more to routine acupuncture appointments. I have realized now more then ever that I am a VERY anxious person and need to make sure I am keeping myself in check and that comes from being self aware of where my mind is at.

Music: I have realized since entering the workforce I have lost sight in some elements that bring me pure joy, music. Growing up I was into all kinds of musical arts from performing in various singing and theater groups to attending musical performances. Since actually getting involved in a musical group may not be an option right now, I am challenging myself in 2019 to attend one musical event every month. Whether it be professional, academic, or a community performance, I am so excited to get back into the art scene, especially in Milwaukee where there are endless options.

Community: Being a homeowner has really pushed me to get more involved in my community. There is a sense of pride that comes with owning a home, and being a part of your community. The city of Glendale and especially our district could use the help from the younger generation. Whether it be starting a local farmers market, creating a spring/fall neighborhood clean up, to just getting to know your neighbors. I want to push myself to put myself out there and make an impact.

Empowerment: The purpose of Darboy Kate is not to just take pictures and dress up, even though fun, I want this blog to be so much more than that. That is why I finally publishing my mission statement for Darboy Kate:

To inspire others by empowering them, to engage their local communities, follow their passions, and be the best version of them self.”

I am so excited for 2019 to continue this path I have started for myself and to push myself further then I have pushed myself before. Buckle up, because I think 2019 is going to be a pretty amazing year.
