Thanksgiving has come and gone, and the holidays are upon us.
One of my favorite Lenzner family traditions is bloody marys. The tradition started while my brother and I were in college. My dad got all the fixings and played our bartender Christmas morning. Over the years, my brother has been promoted to our resident bartender, and bloodies have become a staple for almost all of our holidays.
Now these aren’t just any bloody marys, we are very particular about the ingredients and this year didn’t disappoint.
We take our garnish game very seriously:
- Blue cheese stuffed olives
- Pepperchini Peppers
- Cheddar and Colby Cheese
- Celery Stacks
- Pickled Asparagus
- Pickled Mushrooms
- Pickled Green Beans
- Venison hot sticks
I challenged myself this year to think outside of the box, and came to the table with vegetable influenced vodka. I thought this was going to be a production, but actually took no longer than 10 minutes to prepare. What you need:
- 1 sliced tomato
- 1/4 sliced onion
- 2 celery stalks chopped
- 1/4 cup baby carrots
- 1/2 cucumber sliced
- 2 garlic cloves
- 750 ML Vodka
In large container, combine all ingredients.
Refrigerate 3 days. If you want to make it spicy, on the last 2 hours, add a sliced jalapeño. (You don’t want to add it too long because it will become too hot very quickly.)
Remove all the vegetables and strain clean.
Mix with your favorite bloody mary mix or store in refrigerator until ready to use.
Last, but not least, the bloody mary mix. I am so excited to tell you all about Miss.Mary’s Bloody Morning Elixir. First off, this product is locally made in Port Washington, WI and has great flavor.
